Welcome to Body & Soul Pilates
Gluckstadt’s only Reformer Pilates studio
At Body & Soul Pilates, we believe movement should make your life better — not more complicated, intimidating, or stressful.
Our approach is simple: teach Pilates with care, meet people where they are, and build strength that supports real life.
Meet Sherry Williams
I opened Body & Soul Pilates after spending more than 20 years as a physical therapist.
I loved helping people regain strength, confidence, and independence — but over time, the administrative side of healthcare pulled me further away from what mattered most: the people. Pilates gave me a way to continue doing the work I love, without the barriers. After taking my first Pilates class in 2014, I knew immediately this was something special. I could feel the difference in my own body, and I saw how powerful it could be for others.
When Gluckstadt became its own city, I saw an opportunity to bring something meaningful to the community — a place where people could move well, feel supported, and belong. Body & Soul Pilates opened in 2022 with that exact vision.
Our studio is built on connection, accountability, and thoughtful instruction.
Our instructors walk the room, cue form, and offer modifications so everyone feels confident and safe. Classes are small by design, and there’s no pressure to “keep up.” Everyone starts somewhere, and we’re here to guide you.
The people who thrive here are those who want to feel stronger, steadier, and more confident in their everyday lives — whether that means traveling with ease, keeping up with kids or grandkids, or simply feeling better in their body. Our clients love the welcoming atmosphere, the personalized attention, and the sense of community that keeps them coming back.
At Body & Soul Pilates, we work hard, have fun, and celebrate progress — big and small. Our goal is simple: help you move better, feel better, and live with more confidence in the body you’re in.

Melissa Duncan
Instructor
Show Bio
Melissa was first introduced to Pilates in 2013. She fell in love immediately. At the time, she was on a personal journey for better health and fitness for her own body. While continuing to improve her nutrition and overall health she was on a mission to stay active with her career and two young boys. Over the years, Melissa has continued to diversify her activities by incorporating various forms of Pilates and nutrition education into her daily life and has trained with Jackson’s top-rated Pilates trainers. She discovered Pilates to be a brilliant mechanism to increase strength, stability, and flexibility. In 2016, Melissa decided to expand her knowledge and become a trained Pilates Instructor. These results motivated Melissa to become a better instructor through continuing education. She trained under Balanced Body as well as Connections Pilates Studio. She is also trained in CoreAlign through Balanced Body. She currently resides in Gluckstadt with her husband, two sons (in college) and toy poodle “Jasper”.

Penny Butler-Harvey
Instructor
SHOW BIO
Penny was a critical care, hospital-based pharmaceutical representative for 40 years and has been a practitioner of Pilates for 28 years. She started Pilates with Sylvia Blackwell who owned a Stott-based Pilates studio at Highland Village in Jackson, MS. When she started taking Pilates, very few people in this area even knew what Pilates is! Now, many have found the benefits of Pilates! She began taking Pilates because of the tremendous lower back issues she was experiencing. With so much travel in my job, Pilates seemed to be a form of exercise that not only improved her back issues (due to core strengthening), but also helped to manage the stress of a demanding career!
In 2022, she became certified to teach through the Balanced Body certification training and help others on their health-journey through Pilates. She loves and appreciates the opportunity to encourage others on their quest to stay active, mobile and strong no matter the age!

Community Matters
Giving back is an important part of who we are at Body & Soul Pilates. Each year, we support Mad-CAAP, a local organization that serves families and children in our community, and we’re expanding that commitment through quarterly philanthropic initiatives. These efforts are our way of staying connected to the place we call home and using our studio as a force for good — bringing people together, supporting meaningful causes, and making a positive impact beyond the walls of the studio.
